May 2002 - Senator Stewart J. Greenleaf Accepts Governor's Proclamation from Suzanne Fairlie in honor of Pennsylvania Certification Week

Proclamation recognizes the professional certification of personnel consultants and temporary staffing specialists

Willow Grove, PA - In recognition of Pennsylvania Certification Week (May 19-25, 2002), Suzanne Fairlie, CPC, Director of the National Board of the National Association of Personnel Services, presented a Proclamation from Pennsylvania Governor Mark S. Schweiker to Pennsylvania Senator Stewart J. Greenleaf (R, 12th District) at his Willow Grove office on Thursday, May 23, 2002.

The Proclamation from the Governor's Office of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania acknowledges the benefit to consumers, businesses, and the economy when personnel practitioners delivering services strive to improve their performance through voluntary study and monitored testing, leading to the professional designation of Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) or Certified Temporary Staffing Specialist (CTS). The National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS) has offered a certification program for placement professionals for forty years. The Proclamation further states that the study and effort toward greater professional growth exemplified by applicants in the certification process is deserving of encouragement.

Speaking on behalf of NAPS, Fairlie said that placement professionals in Pennsylvania are delighted with the Governor's Proclamation declaring Pennsylvania Certification Week. Her hope is that more people working in placement and staffing will seek the professional designation. "CPC's and CTS's have made an ethical and educational commitment to professional excellence within the placement field," said Fairlie. "The profession as a whole is enhanced when its practitioners undertake a uniform course of study and are duly certified."

Senator Greenleaf said he was interested to learn about the certification process for placement professionals, and shared Governor Schweiker's enthusiasm for encouraging placement practitioners to earn their professional designation.
