Common Interview Mistakes
- Poor personal appearance.
- Lack of interest and enthusiasm.
- Over emphasis on money: interested only in best dollar offer.
- Condemnation of past employers.
- Failure to make eye contact.
- Limp, fishy handshake.
- Late to interview.
- Failure to express appreciation for interviewer's time. Not sending thank you note.
- Asks no questions about job.
- Lack of background knowledge on the company.
- Quotes their headhunter on the interview. "She/he said to say...".
- Complains about personal life during interview.
- Discusses and compares opportunity with other company with which they are interviewing.
- Tells interviewer/hiring manager that time is up and they have to go.
- Not asking the employer what the next step is to move on in the process.
- Not knowing interviewer's name or pronouncing name incorrectly.
