Candidate Information - Frequently Asked Questions

Are all the positions that you have available listed on your website?
While the many of our positions are posted on our website, we do have other opportunities. The jobs listed on our website are an overview of what we have available.

Why is your address not listed on your website?
We do not list our address on our website because we are able to meet with people by appointment only. If you are interested in a position, please email us your resume so it can be forwarded to the appropriate recruiter.

Do you check with me before you send my resume out to a company?
Yes, ProSearch checks with you about an opportunity before sending your resume to the company. We want to make sure you are comfortable with the company and position before we submit your resume.

Who are your fees paid by?
All fees are paid by the client company not by the candidate.

Why should you call us after an interview?
Candidates should call the recruiter after an interview to give and get feedback regarding the interview. You need to tell the recruiter how the interview went from your perspective and if you are interested in pursuing the opportunity. The recruiter will provide you with feedback from the client company. We want to provide you with feedback not simply for this interview, but so you can improve your interviewing skills for the next interview you go on.

How soon should I call after an interview?
Candidates should call the recruiter immediately after the interview while things are fresh in your mind. The faster you get to the recruiter, the faster he or she can contact the hiring manager for feedback. The faster the recruiter can get to the hiring manager the more candid the feedback. You will get their gut reaction and not a thought out script.

Why do you need references?
Our clients ask us to verify who you are and what you do. It also gives us a better understanding of who you are so we can better market you to the companies and positions that are right for you.

Why should I tell my recruiter about my other interview and search efforts?
It is to your advantage to tell your recruiter the names of all the companies to which you have sent your resume, including companies that have your resume through a friend.

Before your recruiter sends your resume to any company, he/she most likely will tell you the name of the potential client.

If you are not working with a recruiter whom you trust to share this information, then the relationship may not be based on mutual trust, ethics, respect, and integrity - aspects critical to any successful relationship.

Why does ProSearch not conduct in depth conversations on cell phones??
It is ProSearch's policy not to conduct interviews or preparations for client interviews on cell phones for three reasons.

First, we are concerned for your safety. You cannot safely drive, listen intently, and take notes.

Second, we need your undivided attention. At ProSearch, we take the time before an interview to give you detailed information on the position, company, environment, and the people who will interview you. We also review general tips and techniques for interviewing, and we need your full attention so you can listen and take notes.

And third, lawsuits have recently been filed against firms conducting business on cell phones. A law firm was recently sued for $25 million after an associate, who was allegedly talking to a client on her cell phone while driving, struck and killed a young girl. The suit was filed by the victim's father against the associate and her employer, a California-based law firm, because the associate was conducting firm business on her cell phone at the time of the accident. The case is scheduled for trial. In addition, a national financial services firm recently paid $500,000 to settle litigation brought by the family of a motorcyclist killed in Pennsylvania by one of its brokers who was talking on his cell phone when the accident occurred.

What should I do if I am out of work?
Unfortunately if you have been out of work for over 6 months, then ProSearch is not the best firm to represent you. Our clients ask that we find candidates who are very current in their skills, who can come in and hit the ground running, and since our clients pay us, we need to respect their needs. Our advice is to review the job boards such as Monster and Hot Jobs, attend career fairs, join networking groups such as TENG (Technology Executives Network Group), Bruner Consulting, and send your resume directly to a company. You may also want to consider contracting to get back into the market. As a contractor the employer can see your skills firsthand, without having to guess about your potential.
